Concord Cancer Survivorship Centre Pamper Day

For a makeover that makes you feel as good on the inside as you do on the outside, head to the Sydney Survivorship Centre Pamper Day on Friday 17th October from 10am.

Prepare to be serenaded by renowned classical guitarist, Jean-Pierre Antaki while being massaged, manicured and made up. For the $100 ticket price, you may select 2-3 ‘treats’ including hair cuts, hair styles, nail buff and polish, reflexology and hand, shoulder or foot massages.  For fitness and well-being enthusiasts, a Yoga and Qigong demonstration will take place. A morning tea and buffet lunch will be provided.

The funds go to support the Sydney Survivorship Centre. The centre opened in May this year as a hub for cancer survivors to meet and to reconnect with life after treatment.  The survivors and their families attend support groups and participate in activities such as cooking, gardening, yoga and mindfulness.

Associate Professor Janette Vardy, a medical oncologist at Concord Cancer Centre, started the centre to provide a more holistic approach for cancer survivors. “Research points to lifestyle factors being important in reducing the risk of cancer coming back.” said Janette. She also said that many patients felt well supported during treatment but struggled once they no longer need to be reviewed every few weeks.

Bookings are essential.
