The finalists are in…

The 2014 Inner West Local Business Awards finalists have been named. Now the battle really begins as businesses prepare for the judging process…

Judging is set to be carried out anonymously (mystery shopper-style) and will evaluate key principles including service, value for money, merchandising/store presentation and the quality of products, facilities and services on offer.

However, finalists can also submit additional information, customer references and testimonials to help influence the winning result. Members of the community are encouraged to send in their written testimonies directly, with public opinion being extremely valuable in the judging process.

Some old favourites have returned as finalists this year including My Guitar School Five Dock, Mezzapica, Voila Maison (pictured above) and Nocturnal Designs – whose owner, Josephine Maniscalco, took out the Business Person of Year Award last year.

But newcomers have not been left behind either with Laser Clinic Australia (Leichhardt) having impressed locals over the last year and made it into the finals too.

Look out for fierce competition amongst the hairdressers and cafe owners this year – with 14 competitors each, they are two of the largest categories in the awards aside from ‘specialised businesses,’ which have been broken into two groups: retail and non-retail/service.
