Inner West Whispers – 216

Poor Cedric Spencer’s candidate posters keep getting torn down. The Liberal candidate for Grayndler has taken to putting his posters up so high on telegraph poles they almost touch the electrical cables. This way those pesky anonymous thugs who keep threatening to take them down can’t get their arses up high enough. Some people are suggesting it may also be birds that are taking them down. Ahem.

Former car yard lord Rick Damelian’s two McMahons Point properties are being prepared for sale. Originally thought to be sold after the election, according to reports from the Telegraph the receivers have been instructed to “take immediate steps to ready the McMahon’s Point property for sale, to engage an agent its their sale and to sell it as soon as reasonably practicable”. Rick owes over $6.6 million on the properties. He is said to be moving to a friend’s property at Whale Beach (for $700 a week). Must be hard being broke.

An outstanding property on Stanton Road, Haberfield, complete with gorgeous hand-painted ornate ceilings and beautiful gardens is for sale through Elders. The property is rumoured to have a secret room, perfect for hiding secret lovers.

• As La Boheme says goodbye to Balmain and hello to Glebe after six long years, other good restaurants are said to be thinking about a big move as well. Watch this space. The little butcher on Sutton Place, Drummoyne, is also going to be moving.
