French flavour
Famille Castel 2014 Chardonnay

The south-west of France is producing some very good imports at very reasonable prices, as is shown by this extremely drinkable chardonnay from a large family company based in Beziers.

This has floral aromas and is driven by fresh white peach and pear characters.

It goes particularly well with poultry dishes and there is also a very good merlot in the range, at the same bargain price. Try Cellarbrations stores or IGA Liquor. $12.

wine-Eldridge-Estate-PTGSummer stunner
Eldridge Estate 2015 PTG

This is a quintessential red for summer enjoyment that can even be served chilled on a warm day; it is a juicy, fruity but far from flippant blend of gamay and pinot noir that is both food-friendly and very quaffable.

It is made as a hommage to the “drink now” passetoutgrains styles of Burgundy; wines that are blends of the same two grape varieties.

This is lively, vibrant and a lot of fun – like a liquid summer pudding. At Annandale Cellars or Porters of Pyrmont. $30.

Sandalford 2015 Classic Dry White

A zesty, refreshing  white blend that’s perfect for enjoying on warm summer evenings.

This is a classic Margaret River blend of semillon and sauvignon blanc, crisp and vibrant with tropical fruit salad notes and a vey good partner for most seafood dishes, or simply for enjoying on the deck after work.

A wine for immediate enjoyment that is probably best enjoyed well chilled. Widely available but try Vintage Cellars stores. $22.
