The Inner West’s largest free event is back and bigger than ever! Attracting 70,000 visitors from all across Sydney last year, this year hopes to bring new life to the festival, which means new attractions and new visitors. The main stage performance will feature a diverse range of performers, giving space to local schools, community groups and professional artists. There will also be a special kids area, food stalls, merchandise, rides and a classic car show, artisan demonstrations, workshops, model boats and a program of roving performers. The family-friendly atmosphere will be bucketloads of fun and is not one to be missed.

Immerse your senses at Burwood Festival

This year, Burwood Festival is hoping to take their guests on a sensory journey by asking them to touch, taste, listen and see throughout the day. From live art demonstrations and delicious food trucks to exciting local musicians, there will be plenty to ignite your senses.

Music to your ears

All-star heartthrob and X Factor winner Cyrus headlines a stellar lineup of entertainment at the Anson Main Stage, including Strings of Fire, who will combine circus stunts with live music to leave you breathless, Platinum Vocal Studios, Japanese Drumming Corp, and local schools and groups. There will be plenty of interactive performances, with the Dreamworks’ Troll Show and live Hip-Hop Dance and Demonstration.

Main Stage Highlights

11.08am – Dreamworks’ Trolls Show

Join the stars of Trolls — Poppy and Branch — as they make friends with festival goers and entertain your little ones. Always with a song in their heart, their infectious spirit will bring a smile to your face.

1.11pm – Japanese Drumming Corp

A free-spirited, primal and dramatic drum performance will have your heart pumping and your energy lifted. The vibrant performance of Japanese drums will showcase their dynamic and refined skills, whether it’s the delicate melodies of shakuhachi or the thunderous impact of the odaiko.

2.47pm – Hip-Hop Dance Show

It’s a high-energy dance genre, and arguably one of the most exciting types of dance to watch. Come to the mainstage to see a show-stopping performance from local Inner West hip-hop dancers.

3.07pm – Live Hip-Hop Demonstration Class

Always wanted to dance like a pro but never known where to start? It’s time to get on your feet! This interactive demonstration class will be a fun and active part of your day, and perhaps let you work off some of that overindulgent eating done earlier in the afternoon.

3.40pm – Strings on Fire

This will be a truly unique combination of circus stunts with live music that will leave you breathless. It’s the only act that combines the eccentric combination of violins, circus, tango and fire all live on stage. After three world tours and 1000 live performances, this act is sure to light up the stage.

4.20pm – Cyrus

The 20 year old winner of X Factor 2015 adds a star dimension to this year’s Burwood Festival, and will have the audiences singing along while he performs his hit singles ‘Stone’ and ‘Hurt Anymore’.

5.08pm – Dynasty Drumline

This highly choreographed visual spectacle of drums is one of Sydney’s most celebrated percussionist groups. The 11-piece ensemble have appeared on Channel 7’s The Voice and The Great Australian Spelling Bee, showing off their ferocious grooves and show stopping moves.

Indulge in taste and smell

Tantalise your taste buds with the rich aromatic smells of award winning food trucks from across Sydney, offering delicious cuisine from across the globe. All the continents from around the world will be represented in celebration of Burwood’s diversity.

Seeing is believing

Be amazed with artists from across Sydney undertaking live art installations on the day, including street art by Street Art Murals Australia, 3D art from Leonardo Uribe, illustrations from Zeke’s Lunchbox, masonry works by The Village Blacksmith and various sculptures and installations. You’ll also have the chance to create or take home your own piece of art with various workshops and exhibitions throughout the festival.

Get up close and personal

The Burwood RSL Classic Car Show and Shine returns with the finest cars in NSW on display. You can hear the roar of a V8, inspect the fine details of classic luxury cars, or feel the fine upholstery as you sit inside an authentic American muscle car.

You won’t be able to keep your hands to yourself with the return of everyone’s favourite animal petting zoo. Crowd favourites including the Model Boat Show and Pony Rides will also be making a return.
