Following the exciting launch of the all new BMW 2 Series Coupé earlier this month, we chat to Jeffrey Baldacchino, Dealer Principal at Canterbury BMW, about the business and what makes BMW such a special brand…

BMW has a long history of offering good, reputable service in Australia, with the family-owned Canterbury BMW being the second-oldest BMW dealership in the country. “We have been around for 34 years,” says Jeffrey. “I joined Canterbury BMW as Chief Operating Officer in 2006 and bought the business in 2013.”

Within the dealership they have five separate businesses: new BMW, used vehicles, finance and insurance, service and parts. “We also have one of the largest finance businesses in Sydney where we will finance any brand,” Jeffrey adds.

But what makes BMW Canterbury the number one place to buy a car, compared to other dealerships? Well, according to Jeffrey it all comes down to BMW’s ‘wow factor’.  “I think it’s a totally overwhelming experience [owning a BMW]; many people aspire to own a luxury brand and when you own a BMW, especially a Canterbury BMW, you get that ‘Wow!’ factor,” he explains.

Aside from that, however, he says BMW offers “the very latest in vehicle technology, sustainability, the highest safety of any car on the road, luxury appointments and they are very fuel efficient. They also have a very high re-sale value and 50/50 weight distribution.” Plus, these days you can own a BMW from as low as $39,990 (which buys you a 1 series), this makes the transition to the brand very appealing for people in the market for an amazing quality car.

Speaking of quality cars, the BMW 2 Series Coupé has gotten car lovers very excited in the lead up its launch, and is the first of this series to be built by BMW. It comes in five engine configurations, one being the powerhouse M235, which produces the power of the current M3 at half the price.

“All BMW vehicles are purpose built with the ultimate driving experience in mind. This car sets a new benchmark in this segment and really has no competition at this stage,” says Jeffrey. “BMW always ensure they are the innovators and then the other manufacturers tend to follow. We have received huge interest in this car over the past two months leading into the launch so I expect sales to be very strong. When you see the car you are automatically attracted to its stunning looks, and when you take it for a spin you just want to own it.”
