In and Out – May 2018

In
  • So much Golden Age television is returning to screens! From Westworld, a science-fiction western about a robot uprising, to The Handmaid’s Tale, a feminist dystopia and the most zeitgesit-y show since Game of Thrones, there’s too much to watch!
  • Love your mums especially hard on this day in May. Spoil them rotten with treats and affection.
  • Sydney Writers’ Festival is heading to Carriageworks in Redfern. Don’t miss your favourite authors and writers discussing what makes them tick.
  • This month we celebrated Earth Day, but make sure the environmental awareness continues well into this year.
Out
  • With an article every few months heralding the close of yet another brick and mortar video store, the trend is spreading to competitive VOD services also. Dendy Direct which launched in 2014 before Netflix and Stan, will cease operations this month.
  • The Australian arm of Jamie’s Italian has collapsed, being placed in voluntary administration, driving more pasta lovers into the arms of Leichhardt traditional Italian eateries.
  • Tv show Scandal has officially come to an end. It was the first show to feature a black woman as the lead of a network drama since 1974.
  • The spate of violence continues in Ashfield, with a woman attacked by a man who wrapped a bike lock cable around their neck. Thankfully, the man was arrested by police.
