Gigs guide – 224

Sat 7th December
Davey Lane

Davey Lane has been described as a “cosmic-pop songsmith.” I don’t know what that means; I don’t think it means anything. I would just describe him as acoustic pop-rock. He has some talent, sounding somewhat like Powderfinger. If you’re free this Saturday, this gig should be good use of your time.

Midnight Special, Free

Sat 7th December
Dale Watson and His Lonestars (pictured)

I’m not really a country fan but Dale Watson sounds like Johnny Cash to me and he seems to really enjoy performing. I figure that anyone with a fondness for either country or just Johnny Cash could have a fun time here.

The Factory Theatre, $55.10

Fri 13th December
Muse

God I’m conflicted on Muse. At times they have some good tunes like ‘Supermassive Black Hole,’ although that was totally overplayed. Other times, it just seems like they are trying to make technically impressive music, rather than good music. Now they have a song with lead singer Matt Bellamy’s unborn son’s heartbeat on the track. That’s just weird.

Allphones Arena, $130.50
