Magical Winter

This school holidays experience winter as a Northerner. You don’t need to head to Jindabyne or New Zealand for a freeze-over, just head into the city for a snow slide, ice-skating and Maple Leaf Bar. Skating At returns to Sydney this winter partnering with North America’s Best Airline (Skytrax 2018) to bring you the Air Canada Ice Rink, entertainment, icy-cool ice slide, and delicious food and drink options. The festival is on now and runs until the 21stof July and is the place to be if you’re looking for a fun-filled family day, a night out with friends, or a little romance by the ice for you and your date.

Located at the gorgeous Cathedral Square in the heart of Sydney is the iconic Air Canada Ice Rink. Whether it’s your first time on the ice, or you’re a skater from way back – this is sure to be the highlight of your winter months. Each session is 45 minutes long and includes skate hire. If the little ones need some help balancing, or simply want to glide across the ice on a Kangaroo’s back – Kanga the skate-aid (extra $10) will be there to make their experience an enjoyable one.

The fun doesn’t end at Skating At’s Air Canada Ice Rink, you can grab onto a snow tube and enjoy a thrilling ice slide down The Runway ($14 per hour).

If food is more your thing, The Winter Market offers a range of winter warmers from around the world including Gozleme and Asian stalls (bring cash), or you can cosy up at the Maple Leaf Bar.

Air Canada are proud sponsors of Skating At Ice Rinks in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane and this year two people per city will glide away with Air Canada return tickets to Vancouver. To win, participants simply have to take a unique and creative selfie as part of a fun Instagram competition.

“We’re excited to be bringing Skating At back to beautiful locations around Australia including the iconic St Mary’s Cathedral in Sydney,” says Rod Stoller, Director of Skating At. “The event is family-friendly, but something to be enjoyed by all. It’s the perfect way to make the most of the colder months.”

Air Canada General Manager Australia and New Zealand Vic Naughton says the Air Canada Ice Rink provides Australians with the perfect introduction to the unforgettable winter experiences Canada offers visitors.

“When it comes to having fun on the snow and ice no one does it better than Canadians,” says Naughton. “Come along and see for yourself why our non-stop services from Sydney, Brisbane and Melbourne are taking more Australians than ever before to Canada’s winter wonderlands.”

Skating At is open for spectating, however skating sessions and rides require ticket purchase.

Skating At Sydney is located at Cathedral Square, St Marys Road, Sydney. Sessions are open Monday to Wednesday 10am-9pm and Thursday-Sunday 10am-10pm.

Air Canada Ice Rink tickets are $28 for adults (14+ years), $21 for children (13 years and under), $10 for children (3-4 years) and $89 for a family of 4 (2 adults and 2 children).
