New Brew

Sydney Brewery Rozelle has launched on the former White Bay Brewing site in Mansfield Street, Rozelle, offering an atmospheric brewpub inside a 150-year-old former steel mill, Winsor Dobbin reports.

The family (and dog) friendly space is now open from Wednesday to Sunday from noon to 10pm – and 9pm on Sundays.

The working brewery is now fully operational, producing an extensive range of Sydney Brewery beverages, including a new Hazy Pale, Lemon Twist Cider, and Bat Currant, a dark, rich and fruity cider crafted with Aussie-grown fruit.

The extra brewing capacity provided by the Rozelle brewery is enabling the company to expand its product range further with a low carb beer scheduled for launch in January.

The beers and ciders are available on tap, in bottles and in cans, and the brewpub’s licensing has been expanded to serve spirits, with offerings from local distillers Blackwattle Distilling and Red Mill Rum on offer.

As part of the acquisition of the venue, Sydney Brewery has taken over the kitchen, with head chef Chris Reynolds crafting a menu that aims for dishes that pair perfectly with the beers and ciders.

The menu includes sizzling pizzas straight from the oven, along with fresh salads.

Sydney Brewery spokesperson Jenny Farrell said that it was pleasing to open the doors of the Rozelle brewpub and become an active member of the ‘Tiger Town’ community.

“We know there has been a lot of anticipation about the opening because the brewery has been such a popular venue for the local community and visitors,” she said.

“Many of the former White Bay Brewing team are helping us launch the new entity, and we have brought in our distilling neighbours Blackwattle and Red Mill Rum so that we can provide the ‘best of the best’ local brews and spirits.

“Our new Sydney Brewery Rozelle logo is a proud celebration of local heritage, inspired by the Rosella, the bird Rozelle is named after, and paired with the Balmain Tiger, the iconic mascot of the local rugby league team.

“We are already receiving lots of interest for pre-Christmas parties, and with such an accessible location, great beverages and food we are expecting to be very busy in the months ahead.”
