This community garden sprouted from the idea of Chicwick local, Suellen Fitzgerald, who neighbours Blackwell Point Reserve. She approached Canada Bay Council two years ago with a plan to turn the site into a shared space for locals to grow organic vegetables and herbs that the whole neighbourhood can use. So far the Chiswick Community Gardeners have seen tomatoes, eggplants, silverbeet and spinach come to fruition in the community garden beds. In the future they hope to start a community compost to enrich their garden’s soil. The Chiswick Community Gardens requires willing hands and green thumbs, to get involved email: chiswickcommunitygardeners@gmail.com.
