It’s the colourful characters around the Inner West that make our neighbourhood so bright. There’s nothing we love more than strolling the streets on a spring evening and encountering fellow Inner Westies happy to have a chat and spread some cheer.
Local resident Martie Bear brings his own share of colour to the streets of Newtown, cycling around on his fluffy red bike (itself evocative of a lively character in Sesame Street’s Elmo) and doing it all with his friendly pooch at the helm. When he’s not brightening up the walking path through Camperdown Memorial Rest Park, Martie leads a life as an accomplished stilt walker. What can’t this man do? A staunch supporter of marriage equality, Martie will be spreading a message of love this month.
