Resurgent label
Rosemount Estate 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon

Winemaker Matt Koch is doing a sterling job of lifting standards at Rosemount Estate, which is very much a label on the upswing.

You’ll find plenty of generous fruit flavours here, some plush softness on the palate and plenty of length.

A really good ‘midweek’ wine that would match well with a barbecue or pasta and pizza dishes.

White bargain
Tempus Two 2013 Pinot Grigio

This is a lovely, lively and refreshing white – and affordable enough for everyday enjoyment.

Aromatic and unoaked, it has vivacious aromas and a tropical fruit salad palate that’s all about the fruit (it’s grown in Victoria, is all we are told).

But that really doesn’t matter too much. The proof is in the pudding and this is a delightfully fruity wine with a nice crisp accessibility.

Red Velvet
Printhie 2012 MCC Shiraz

The wines from the Orange region in the Central West of NSW can be quite spectacular – and this is a case in point; a stunningly good cool-climate shiraz that is peppery, elegant and has plenty of thought-provoking texture.

It has sweet ripe plummy fruit, judicious oak, and is medium-bodied with just 13.5% alcohol.

This also has the structure to age well.

$36.
