Young at Heart Film Festival giveaway

Running from from April 2 – 11, The Apia Young at Heart Film Festival returns to Palace Norton St, Palace Central and Verona cinemas with a specially curated selection of dramas, comedies, documentaries and retrospective titles. Now in its 13th year, the festival caters specifically to film lovers over 60 years of age.

It offers a very attractive $8.50 ticket price for seniors too – but while aimed squarely at them, this fine selection of heart-warming dramas, hilarious and inspiring documentaries as well as revered Hollywood classics will appeal to all ages. Some of the highlights this year include Aurore (above), a hugely entertaining hit from the French Film Festival which centres on a middle-aged woman in the midst of major personal and professional life changes; The Bookshop starring Emily Mortimer, Patricia Clarkson and Bill Nighy, which tells the story of a woman’s ultimately doomed attempt to re-energise a sleepy rural town by opening a bookshop; Last Flag Flying, the latest film by acclaimed Before Sunrise and Boyhood director Richard Linklater; and Chappaquiddick, a tense, scrupulous and authentic piece of history about the fatal car accident in 1969 that ruined Ted Kennedy’s political career; The festival also features special guests, Q&As and three cinema classics (A Star Is Born, All About Eve and The Prime Of Miss Jean Brodie) brought back to their rightful home on the big screen.

The full lineup of 16 films is listed  at the YAH official website, and you can book tickets there also.

Thanks to Palace Cinemas we have 5 double Festival passes to give away. To enter just drop us a line at info@ciaomagazine.com.au and tell us the name of the young woman staffer in Teddy’s Kennedy’s car that fateful night. Ok, we’ll make it easy, the answer is here, and you don’t even need to spell her name (just copy and paste). Winners will receive their passes in the mail so do remember to include a postal address. Competition closes Wednesday 28th March.
