High-profile Hunter Valley winery Mount Pleasant is linking up with inner west gourmet venue Beckett’s of Glebe for a one-night wine and food extravaganza, Winsor Dobbin reports.
A special dinner on August 25 will feature 12 wines from Mt Pleasant – presented by winemaker Adrian Sparks – paired with five-courses of French and European classic dishes.
‘A Journey of Wines Through Time’ will feature dishes prepared by one of Australia’s best chefs, Justin North, and Beckett’s executive chef Jeff Schroeter (ex Bistro Moncur and Bayswater Brasserie).
The dozen wines will be selected by Sparks, one of only five chief winemakers in Mount Pleasant’s history.
He says he is looking forward to sharing his knowledge and giving guests the opportunity to sample new, old, and rare wines.
“To have a hand in designing a new wine experience with the likes of Beckett’s is thrilling,” he said. “Showcasing the history, evolution and diversity of Mount Pleasant’s wines is a real privilege.”
Schroeter says: “We’re big fans of Australian vineyards with heritage behind them, so reviving French and European classic dishes and pairing them with rare wines in an iconic space like Beckett’s is going to be very special.”
Founded in 1921, Mount Pleasant has re-opened its newly renovated and reimagined cellar door and vineyard estate.
