A Man Called Ove
Ove lives in Sweden, and we all know grumpy old men like him. He’s an isolated retiree with strict principles and a short fuse who spends his days enforcing neighbourhood rules that only he cares about, and visiting his wife’s grave. Just as he finally gives up on life, an unlikely friendship develops with a young Iranian woman and her boisterous young family when they move next door. Based on a bestselling novel and one of Sweden’s biggest locally-produced box office comedy hits ever, director Hannes Holm finds the beating heart of his source material, and Swedish star Rolf Lassgård, whose performance won him the Best Actor award at the 2016 Seattle International Film Festival, affectingly embodies the lovable curmudgeon Ove.
Thanks to Rialto Films, we have 10 double in-season passes to give away. To enter – see above.

The Family
After astonishing audiences at the Melbourne Film Festival recently, Rosie Jones’ acclaimed feature documentary will soon screen at Dendy Newtown. It tells the strange tale of the beautiful and dangerously delusional Anne Hamilton-Byrne and the even stranger cult called The Family that she founded and ran outside Melbourne from the 1960s to the 1990s. Convinced she was a living god and acting with lots of help from prominent members of Melbourne’s elite, she acquired numerous children and isolated them from the outside world, dressed them in matching outfits with identically dyed blonde hair – and prepared them to be leaders after the Apocalypse. Allegedly beaten, starved and injected with LSD, the children were only rescued 1987. But their trauma had only just begun. M from March 30
Thanks to Label Distribution, we have 5 double in-season passes to give away. To enter – see above.
