Leap into Literacy

Are you looking for a unique and fun way to extend your child’s reading and writing skills? Leap into Literacy can help!

Created by Allison Greenland, whose PhD dissertation focused on reading comprehension skills in younger students, Leap into Literacy was developed to provide small classes for children with a focus on reading comprehension and creative writing. Using techniques that allow students to become creative in the learning process, sessions are unique and achieve maximum results.

Classes are fun and are not based on individual students completing worksheets on their own, but instead a more involved and hands-on approach during the group lessons with one-on-one support for written work. This means that students are more motivated to learn and retain the information for life!

Creative techniques and technology are used in small groups; parents have said they are so happy to see their children enjoy reading and writing for pleasure! Students are also able to complete writing assignments on their own outside of the classroom using techniques they learn in class.

We cover a different age-relevant book each week with a reading and writing aspect involved. Each week is different, but topics we focus on are: persuasive and descriptive writing, building your introductions and conclusions, character development, and organising/planning your story. Reading comprehension techniques are also tied into every lesson.

Parents like to use the classes not only as a fun method to increase reading and writing skills, but as an extension to help expand on what is already in place for more advanced students. Classes are creative and involve games, audio and visual clips, technology, and more to keep students motivated. Classes are held in Drummoyne for children in Years 1-6.

Oska

Many women love Oska. Why? And who is the Oska woman?

She is a woman who enjoys the unexpected and likes to surprise. She knows what she wants and she loves life.

Oska stands for individuality, casual urbanity and quality. Our materials reflect that – they are sensual, natural and authentic. Wearing comfort is the key concept. We create fashion in which our customers feel comfortable and find themselves reflected – fashion which expresses their personality and attitude toward life.

From the very beginning, Oska has been known for wool, boiled wool and linen. This interplay of severity and femininity, which is also expressed in the designs and silhouettes, enriches the collection and gives the label more clarity and a distinct image.

Thanks to our own dye-works, we are able to offer many fabrics in a large range of colours. This is very unusual in the fashion world and makes uniquely beautiful and harmonious colour combinations possible.

Knitwear and boiled wool are the core of the Oska winter collection. Knitted pieces bring colour to the collection.
