New Greek flavours for Annandale

Long-time Marrickville food favourite Yeeros Shop has opened a second taverna in Annandale.

The Yeeros Shop has been serving Greek food in Marrickville’s Little Athens since 1968.

The new location will continue to serve traditional favourites, including the signature lamb yeeros with lamb, vegetables, tzatziki, and paprika ($15).

But diners can also expect new offerings at the Annandale location, including skepasti (vegetables, meats, and cheese, served on toasted pita bread. ($22) and a bread roll-style yeeros ($13). Roasted meats are available by the kilo, along with souvlaki sticks.

With earthy-toned walls and cobblestone-patterned flooring, the Yeeros Shop aims to transport inner westies to the Greek Islands.

Poppy Papadopoulos and Kostas Tomaras (also owners of Fat Fish) purchased The Yeeros Shop from Yiannis Beneto in 2012 and have continued his legacy.

Kostas has previously run another nine yeeros shops in Greece and calls the eateries his “home away from home” after migrating to Australia with his family in 2010.

Open seven days a week, the Annandale outlet is situated alongside sibling venue Fat Fish at 109 Johnston St, Annandale. Check out https://theyeerosshop.com.au/
