Inner West Council’s Business Environment Awards is on Wednesday, 28 November at Camperdown Commons. The Awards are a celebration of local businesses across the Inner West that are achieving sustainability outcomes.
In total, 24 organisations will be recognised as finalists on the night. Last year, some of the businesses’ achievements included:
· A commercial business that recycled 1,000 tonnes of cardboard.
· A café that invests 100% in GreenPower
· A brewery that distributes spent grain from brewing to community gardens and for animal feed.
· A community organisation that has created a productive urban green space harvesting and using three tonnes of food locally each year.
· A small startup that brought the sharing economy to Inner West families by connecting owners and renters to children’s equipment.
Guests at the presentation evening include Inner West Mayor Darcy Byrne and judges from industry, government and the business community.
Guest speaker is Dare Kavanagh, local sustainability champion and the 2018 Woman of the Year for Summer Hill electorate.
