Chocolate mug cake

Baking is not everyone’s forte. It takes time, effort and a commitment to precision to become a skilled producer of cakes and other baked goods.

Sometimes though, there are moments in life when neither time or effort is available but cake is required. Short of leaving the house and buying one, this chocolate cake in a mug (that takes about 40 seconds to cook) is the answer.

Ingredients:

1 free range egg

¼ teaspoon baking soda

1 pinch salt flakes

1 ½ tablespoons Mayver’s cacao and hazelnut spread (or Nutella)

1 tablespoon maple syrup

¼ teaspoon vanilla paste

Method:

1. Thoroughly whisk all of your ingredients in a large, microwave proof mug.

2. Depending on your microwave, cook on high for 40-50 seconds for a slightly molten in the centre cake of chocolately goodness.

3. Thank me later.
