Gigs Guide – 230

Saturday 29th March
Christopher Coleman Collective

This young Tasmanian folk musician is touring his just released debut album. At first his distinct Aussie accent put me off but it actually starts to add to his charm. Surprisingly sad stuff from such a happy looking dude and totally worth listening to.

The Newsagency, $11.50

Saturday 12th April
Adrian Edmondson & The Bad Shepherds

I can’t believe I’ve never heard of this before; punk music played on traditional folk instruments and featuring one of the guys from Nightwish. What a recipe for success. Sounds like eerie, vaguely medieval music and I have no idea whether I like them or not.

The Factory Theatre, $45

Sunday 13th April
Tenderfoot

One final folk act this issue. Tenderfoot is more in the vein of contemporary indie-folk acts like Mumford & Sons so not really my jam but there is definitely talent here. If this is your style then this will be a worthwhile concert; that’s all I can say.

The Vanguard, $35
