Leichhardt Long Lunch 2016

 May 29th, 11am-5pm | Leichhardt Town Hall

Leichhardt Long Lunch is back for a second time this year, showcasing the Inner West’s food and creativity in a unique light. If you think you know dining in Leichhardt, think again.

Leichhardt Long Lunch will have you supping elbow to elbow with your neighbours in the alfresco setting of Norton Street, serenaded by a superb line-up of local talent.

Former Wiggle and children’s entertainment star Sam Moran will be headlining Leichhardt Long Lunch’s entertainment. His energetic live show will be staged from 12-1pm in the large outdoor area adjoining Leichhardt Town Hall next to the communal dining tables.

There will be a wide range of stalls offering food, wine and products from local restaurants and artisans in the Inner West, representing businesses from Leichhardt, Annandale, Balmain, Rozelle, Lilyfield and Birchgrove.

Inside Town Hall you will find cooking demonstrations from the Inner West’s premiere chefs and cooks, giving you the opportunity to learn how to make the signature dishes of your favourite local restaurants. For the first time ever, Leichhardt Long Lunch will be playing host to its very own Antique Roadshow. Bring in any mysterious items you have to be valued by experts from Raffan Kelaher & Thomas.

Gather together with your family, friends and neighbours for a fascinating day celebrating the best flavours our side of Sydney has to offer!

Leichhardt Town Hall will also be the site of the Inner West’s very own Antique Roadshow. Antique experts from Raffan Kelaher & Thomas Leichhardt will be offering free appraisals of treasures and collectibles brought in by Leichhardt Long Lunch guests. Experts Céline Gallais, Imogen Harper and Rose Nunes-Silva will share their knowledge on jewellery, collectibles and decorative art pieces on the ‘Chefs with Taste’ stage, alternating appraisals with the cooking demonstrations. Music and Song

Live music will be going all day long on the stage outside Leichhardt Town Hall, next to the communal tables. Roaming performers will also be providing improvised entertainment to Leichhardt Long Lunch diners throughout the day.

Play Along with Sam

This is one for the kids to get excited about as Sam Moran, the star of Nickelodeon’s children television show Play Along with Sam, hits the stage with a live show. Sam Moran was the former Yellow Wiggle and since starring in his own show has won the ARIA for Best Children’s Album in 2015 and has also been nominated for a Logie. Come on down to Leichhardt Long Lunch between 12-1pm and see what the Sam sensation is all about.

Lucky Luke & His Shooting Stars

Lucky Luke and his band are here to convince you that everybody loves country music, they just don’t know it yet. Try your best to stop your foot from tapping along to Lucky Luke’s brand of honky tonk and traditional country music. Having grown up in North Carolina with a grandaddy who played Hank Williams and Ernest Tubb on repeat, Lucky Luke is the real deal. Get down to their set and have a boot-scootin’ good time.

The Low Down Riders

Born and bred in Sydney’s Inner West, the Low Down Riders are a six-piece band inspired by New Orleans street music. This Leichhardt Long Lunch they will be bringing the sounds of Frenchman Street to Norton Street, with raucous horns and a chugging rhythm section. Their songs’ lyrics reflect the true storytelling tradition of the Deep South. Put on your dancing shoes and grab a drink to prepare yourself for the Low Down Rider’s gig .

Adam Pringle & Friends

Guitarist and vocalist Adam Pringle has been playing tunes around the Australian Blues scene for 20 years alongside the likes of Melanie Horsnell, Ray Beadle and King Tide. With influences such as Otis Rush and Buddy Miller, Adam’s funky country blend is the perfect soundtrack to a Sunday afternoon spent in good company. Sit back and enjoy the best in local music.

Leichhardt Long Lunch is an initiative of the Leichhardt and Annandale Business Chamber, sponsored by Leichhardt Council and organised by Impact Exhibitions and Events.
