In celebration of Fashion Week Australia 2014, we ask locals who their favourite Aussie designer (or brand) is and why?
“Friends of Couture. Gorgeous, stylish and despite costing lots, the clothes are incredibly well made and hold their shape for years.”
Caitlin, Drummoyne.
“Steven Kahlil for his incredible wedding gowns.” Victoria, Petersham.
“Song for the Mute, based in Glebe.” Alex, Kogarah.
“Arthur Galan Ag – love his clothes!” Enzo, Haberfield.
“Alex Perry because he’s the only one I’ve heard of. And I only heard of him last month because of his Astra nomination.” Danny, Five Dock.
“Sass & Bide design cool stuff. I also like Camilla Frank; someone who can get a way with wearing kaftans every day deserves an award.” Allea, Burwood.
“Alannah Hill. Her stuff is out of a fairytale! So pretty, feminine and kind of kooky. Unfortunately, I can’t wear any of it, it makes me look like a marshmallow.” Felecia, Haberfield.
“Alex Perry hands down.” Rachael, Rozelle.
“Akira Isogawa.” Samuel, Sydney.
